Snow Again

It's been one of those cold and wet weeks. The kind of cold that gets into your bones and stays there. The temps have been hovering in those temperatures where the rain turns to snow and then back to rain. My neighbors Ruby and Roger are braving the wet snowy elements and taking their usual morning walk. I wish I had that devotion.
I remember hunkering in and building blanket forts at this time of year. Our dining room table was the perfect place for this. We covered the table with sheets and light blankets so a little bit of light could filter through. The neighbor girls, Lisa and Linda, brought their Barbie's and we played under there all day. It was warm and cozy and quiet play which my mother loved. We protested a bit when dinner time approached because we had to dismantle our play space, but we folded the blankets and sheets and piled them near by so we could recreate the fort the next day. Ah the joys of simple pleasures.

March

I always think of March as a throw away month, at least here in Minnesota. It seems a bit good for nothing and unable to make up it's mind. Snow or no snow? Rain or no rain? It uncovers all of the dirt that has accumulated over the winter. The trash that has been covered by snow starts emerging and blowing everywhere.
There is one thing though that I love about March. My very dearest friend was born in March. Her birthday is the one thing that brightens this very murky month for me. It is rare that we spend this day together but it is always a sunny day in my mind and heart. We have the dearest memories of our childhood together. I remember our endless hours of laughter and the wonderfully creative things we would conjure up to do. It was never a dull moment even if we were doing absolutely nothing.
We still laugh like crazy and enjoy each others company in any setting. We are true soul sisters with a heart language that transcends time. I love her like no other.

Puddles

I've been looking at the very large puddle forming in my backyard the last couple of days. It could almost be considered a small lake. The thing I love about it is the memories it brings back of running and jumping into puddles when I was a girl. I can close my eyes and watch myself running across the yard in one of my play dresses and bare feet (my feet were always bare). When I got to the edge of the water I closed my eyes and jumped as high as I could so I would make the biggest splash. If I was successful both my clothes and my hair would be soaked. It was divine!

What are your puddle memories?

Childhood

There is something, at some point, in everyone's childhood that resembles magic. For me it was a continuous string of magical moments. Not that I didn't have heart ache and sadness at times too, but everyday had at least one moment when all was perfect.

What were your perfect moments? The ones that held magic?
